A LAND OF COSMOCULTURE WINES IN AMPHORAS
THE VINEYARD
The unique characteristic of the soil is its ideal geographic exposition (facing south at an altitude of 250300m) which offers a harvest rich in components essential to the production of great wines : The deep soil is a flinty rich clay scattered with chalk. The most reknowned Côtes-du-Rhône varieties are here to bring their identity and complexity to the wines.
A wide diversity of grapes ( 25 references), from a massale selection (old way of propagating vineyards), of a 40-years average age, from hundred year-old vines, reflect into the high quality of the wines.
HISTORY
Domaine Viret has been a family estate for 4 generations.
- 1917 : Mr Julien Genin, great grand father and grand father of the actual owners acquires the land.
- 1963 : Mr Alain Viret joins the operation.
- 1985 : Orientation towards a more ecological agriculture.
- 1999 : Creation of the ‘Cave Cathédrale’ and its first haverts.
- 2000 : Launch of the two premières cuvées: Coudée d’Or et Renaissance.
- 2007 : Cosmoculture becomes registered as an international brand*.
- 2009 : The ‘Cuvée Amphora rouge’ becomes ‘Dolia Paradis’ and expands to ‘Paradis Rouge’, ‘Paradis Ambré’ and other specific numbered cuvées. New promising horizons open the Domaine Viret’s future with the construction of the first Amphora ‘Chai’ in France.
*Cosmoculture is the study of soils elements, earthly line, underground water and breaks, who have an action on life (plants, trees, animals, humans…) It relies also on the interaction between cosmic and earthly metallic forces.
